Mark Evans s'entretient avec Om Malik (senior writer at Business 2.0). Voici quelques paroles de sagesse :

  • Traditional media more sanitized version of blogging
  • A lot of people in old media shouldn't be in the business. They have failed to innovate and the marketplace is beating them up.
  • Whether bloggers are 'journalists' is a question asked by people who have too much time.
  • The issue for old media is how they will attract a new group of news consumers who read all their news online.
  • Commities and consensus based organizations don't innovate.
  • Television is something for people who have had a bad day and just want to sit back with a beer. A lot of people in tradtional media should not be in the business…the market forces should just sweep them up.
  • Not all blogs are created equal, just like not all newspapers are created equal.
  • Blogging is a cheap way to create advertising inventory, with a lot less work and a lot more return on investment.
  • It will probably be bad newspapers that will disappear…I’ll be glad to see a lot of newspapers just go away…They’re just vehicles for online advertising.
  • Blogs are killing off the trade press.
  • Regular people don’t care about TiVo and appointment TV. If you have 6 kids and have to go to work at 6am, TV is the last thing on your mind.
  • A lot of people in the technology industry don’t pay attention to the reality of life. Too many startups don’t pay attention to how people use technology. Not all behaviors can be changed, and television is one them.
  • People make judgment calls, whether to believe you or whether you’re full of shit. But getting discovered is a huge challenge.
  • Most of the meme trackers cover the ‘A list.’ Old world thinking being brought into the new world.
  • Craigslist is a major hit in 4 or 5 major metro areas and that’s it…I get a catalog in my mail everyday, do I need a newspapers wrapped around…Advertisers are going direct to consumers.
  • The glooshpere is over 6 otimes bigge tahjn is was on 3 years ago. keep mag 29 weeks before throw it away. spa is opene eveyr 4 seconds .
  • Will the newspaper disapear has the new generation is getting more and more their information from the Web? . No, but they will have to evolved.
  • How to gain cridibility with the power of the new media (podcast, blog, vblog, etc.). Poeple make judgument and make their mide. To be discover is hard now. (Mark: Do we need technorati to introduce and new cridibility meter?). Cridibility come from what you wrote. (audience: 1: dolar shifting, resilience of newspaper, 2: craiglist: is dollar shifting to general classified or new technology, business (new product) are created)
